Wonders Quick Returns restore

Post by lets__ »

Picked up my 2nd Allwin here on the wrong side of the pond :-)

There used to be a section here with re-done art work people uploaded (I believe I uploaded some for my other, FlashWin allwin). I can't find where that is now...and, has anyone re-done the art for Wonders Quick Returns?

Congrats ....

Uploaded art work etc. is kept in "Resources".
If you click on MENU (top left this page by the clock) then got to FORUM you'll find Resources.
Alternatively put +Wonders +Quick +Returns in the search box top right of the page.

Thank you. Doesn't look like anyone's redone the art....yet. Guess I'll take a shot at it.

I think widget may have done one - his game's in the Museum, but it's not uploaded to Resources.

Leave it alone is my suggestion, the slight fading looks fine. And once you replace the clear plastic covering and lightly rub away any dust off the print will look a lot better.

For the time being, I'm not going to try re-doing it. Plan is to replace the acitate with 5mil lexan. I'll have to see how it looks after the rest of it is fixed up. Thanks all!

Pretty much done.
Question. When I got it, all the payouts were labeled for 2. Underneath was another label with varying payouts. Any idea how to adjust things to get the varying payouts?

Wonders Quick Returns, payout adjustments

Post by lets__ »

Topic merged - Site Admin.

Starting a new thread on this...sorry if inappropriate.

As the subject alludes to, any idea how to adjust the payout on a Wonders Quick Returns? Mine came set for a payout of 2 on every "position". I've seen pictures where they payout 2, 4 or 6 depending on what slot the ball falls into.

Re: Wonders Quick Returns, payout adjustments

Multiple payouts work more or less the same on all Wonders. The ball works its way down a series of detents or traps, releasing the payout knob in discrete steps. For a payout of six, for example, the payout knob is released three times as the ball lifts each locking lever in turn, so the 2-coin slide is cycled three times, pushing out six coins.

Yours has been stripped down to two-coins-only by a greedy operator. To put it back, you will have to make two copies of the locking lever you have, and cut and bend lengths of wire to replace the two missing gate wires. A bit of prototyping with old coat-hangers may help get them right. Thin wires through the small holes in the three locking levers link them, so they all lift together. And you need suitably threaded shoulder bolts to attach these parts.

This Wonders Plioneer has just two payouts (plus an unusual freeplay linkage).

THANK YOU! That makes sense, now. I wish the picture showed the right side of the levers, but I think there's enough that I understand how to do it.

The wires should be fairly easy as I have a lot of various size piano wire I used in restoring pinball machines. The shoulder screw, I think I can replace with a "normal" screw and use a little short piece of metal tubing to act as the shoulder. I also think I'll look into replicating the locking levers by 3D printing it.
