Re: Wulff Duomat Glass Needed

Post by badpenny »

Hi raqwa1 ... Welcome to The Forum.

Sadly I know of a handful of Duomats that are sitting awaiting new glass fronts.
Perhaps when that figure gets higher someone may cough up the investment needed to screen print and mirror enough to keep the price per unit below £hundreds. Until that time I hope someone comes forward with one or better still a hidden supply of NOS. I'm not holding my breath.
I think the problem is so few Duomats surviving from the 1950s have been kept on a wall. They don't stand up well sitting on the floor because of the large bay window type front. A sudden gust of gravity and oopsy!

I have removed your private email address from your post for two reasons ...
1) Privacy, Spambots do trawl most forums looking for such information and then fill your inbox with oodles of crap.
2) Any member can contact you via PM and email (if you supplied one when joining) through the forum which is much safer.

Also please don't post "Wanted" or "For Sale" adverts in the The Forum.
The proper place is The Market

This is outlined in the blurb you signed when registering, and because The Market uses a different system you need to register again in order to place adverts.

Good luck with your search.
Regards
Badpenny

A solution might be to use mirror finish vinyl sandwiched between two sheets of glass, with the appropriate holes cut out for the mech etc, and gold car pinstripes for the vertical lines. At least you will be able to display and play your nice machine.

I would keep your eyes open as they do come up cheap - at two collectors auctions in the last year, Coventry and Elephant, I have picked ones up for £77 and £117 including commission as complete items.

Please don't PM me though as not selling at the moment.

Duomat Glass Wanted

Post by oldvic »

I think this is a long shot, but does anyone know where I can get a replacement glass for a Duomat machine (the one that's kinda based on roulette)?

I don't think you will.
If you want to try making a replacement, take a look at these topics:

Watch this space as I may be putting an original Duomat glass and frame into the Colcon sale, also a fully working mechanism as a separate lot. I was going to hang around for a machine missing bits, but reckon there must be a few machines out there needing a glass and spares, so time to move on…….not sure when another will come up ;-)

Duomat?

Post by perre64 »

Topic moved & merged - Site Admin.

I have been offered to buy this here in Sweden.
I'm guessing it's a Duomat or something similar.
The seller is waiting for me to make an offer.
But I have little (or no) experience with this kind of machine.
Can anyone advise me what is reasonable to pay for it?

If you search the arena for Duomat you will see many sales results, but issue with this machine is the missing front glass and wooden frame. Shame, as case looks in good condition.

Without the screen printed glass, the metal trim that surrounds the glass, the tongue and groove jointed wooden frame which the trim (and glass) fit into, the cash box, and the payout chute, it should be priced for spares. Off the top of my head, I'd say not more than £100, but I'm not in need of spares to complete a Duomat.

If you intend to make it complete again, whatever you pay, it will be a negative asset. In other words, the time and cost of making it good will be greater than the cost of acquiring a complete and working Duomat.

That's from a strictly financial viewpoint. The pleasure and satisfaction of returning an incomplete game to good condition may outweigh pecuniary issues.

Thanks for your answers.
I'll make him an offer for about 70£ and see what he thinks about it. :)

You can print a reproduction of the glass on peelable pearl vinyl and it works quite well attached to one sheet of acrylic with another sheet over the top (I've done a couple in the past). The big problem seems to me to be the missing frame.

Is it possible to get a high resolution PDF file of the glass here?
