Middlehurst Coronet
Re: Middlehurst Coronet
Thanks PM,
Yep chaps she's a beauty isn't she!
I think the pattern on the inside of the door is glue which would've had felt or foam to dampen the sound of the mech - strange coz it's extremely quiet anyway.

Not sure that I'm too much of a fan of the crazing, however like the front and the mottled colours...

Sterling idea that man!
I did the same with a school woodwork project as a kid. A classmate & I built a magicians' guillotine - 6' tall and the blade passed right throught yer neck - coz it was 'magic'!! We took turns looking after it then I grew up.....
Middlehurst & Sons obviously went to enormous trouble with the Coronet. Orig. parts and their own name in the main frame casting and yes, a definite pre-cursor to the Clubman/Clubmaster/Aristocrat from Ainsworth Dental.

Re:: Tree-frog's earlier post, I just spun the old girl around and yes, glue - but having seen another foam-lined bandit, the foam breaks down and chokes the clock/ mech.
Hence removal.
And as for selling her (to coin a Badpennyism) offers on the back of a fifty..

Re: Middlehurst Coronet
Which is a reproduction?
The Roman Head inside the cover .... or .... The Nevada Club Jennings?
As to what happened to Dieter, according to Google he is now a doctor .......
Dieter Ladwig
Category: Doctors
Berliner Str. 9a
35315 Homberg
06633 398
He is however on Facebook his outline looks a bit like Tin-Tin, but he has an interesting looking friend called Christine.
Dieter Ladwig
Sadly in Canada he has died.
Sad

Re: Middlehurst Coronet
Ahh, that is sad..
The Roman Head is a repro for sure.
Way too shiny, no GA dispenser or mention of GA on the award card but the biggest giveaway is the big chunky 'hightop'-style arm. Mills orig Silents had the 'fish knife' arms which do not extend above the top of the case. Same for all those fake/repro War Eagles..
(or not, just corrected my stelling,, errr spelling).

Am posting this for no other reason than to blatantly keep The Coronet 'in the news' and shall persist relentlessly until such time as Bedpanny's whip around reaches sufficient grands to place a big, expensive postage stamp on it and send it
on its way....and no unwanted relatives thanks,,
