Ruffler & Walker Allwin List
Ruffler & Walker Allwin List
I was looking specifically at R&W sweetie allwins. I have been hunting through various books and magazines to find out about these machines but to no avail. I wonder how many and what types of R&W sweetie allwins were produced? I have fond memories of playing them at Clacton and from what I can remember there was an Aero, Penguin and a Spangles one. Were there others? Any photos, appreciated.
Come to think about it, what about their other machines? A definitive list of all R&W machines. Now I'm getting excited!

Re: Definitive Ruffler & Walker Allwin List
OK, to get the ball rolling... rather than merging all previous R&W posts into one unwieldy thread, I've just copied over the pictures. Please post your R&W sweety allwin pics here.
So, we can add to the Penguin, Aero and Spangles 'Win A...' series: Rowntree's Fruit Gum, Wrigley's Chewing Gum, Gift (very tidy one sold at Sunday's Elephant House auction) and Dairy Milk Chocolate (sold one many moons ago).
The best known R&W allwins (manufactured by B. M. Corteen Ltd., also trading as Advanced Automatics of Erith, Croydon, London) are Hat Trick, Earth Satellite and the multiballs: Fill Em Up, What's My Line, Many Happy Returns and Yours To Be Won.
List of R&W allwins:
Be a Sport
Coming Your Way Wrigley's Chewing Gum
Earth Satellite
Fill Em Up
Four Square console
Hat Trick
Many Happy Returns
Rowntree's Fruit Gums
Six-sided console
What's My Line?
Win a Gift
Win a Kit-Kat
Win a Bar of Nestlé's
Win a Packet of Aero
Win a Packet of Polo
Win a Packet of Spangles
Win a Penguin
Yours To Be Won
R&W Aero identified

Wow, that's great. I didn't know there were so many sweetie allwins. The Wrigley's chewing gum is very nice but no topflash. How unusual! Love the Nestles one by Daveslot.

Re: Ruffler & Walker Allwin List
The Yours To Be Won Ruffler and Walker allwin is a confusing one.
I've heard it countless times and the one on ebay at the moment states it also,
"ONE OF ONLY TWO MACHINES KNOWN TO EXIST, THE OTHER KNOWN EXAMPLE WAS FORMERLY IN THE COLLECTION OF THE LATE JOHN CARTER AND WAS SOLD IN AUCTION IN 2000."
But I've seen more than two in my time. There was one in Coventry I believe as well?
So how many of these are really about?

Re: Ruffler & Walker Allwin List
It is usually the SELLER that cites the rarity value. There was a time that I thought all machines were called rare something or other!!!! A much misused term IMO.
Re: Ruffler & Walker Allwin List
On Ebay you say. Hmm. Can't see it. Really interesting to see all those old machines. I'd forgotten how many different sweetie ones they made.

Aero Choc with fabulous sign
The link is to a Ruffler & Walker (Whales) "Aero Choc" up for auction on Ebay-US. The opening price assures that it will not sell. What is interesting is not the machine but rather a cardboard advertising sign that accompanies the machine. Take a look.

Re: Ruffler & Walker Allwin List
And it seems it's double wrapped for my protection, I am impressed.
Re: Ruffler & Walker Allwin List
Definitely like the sign. Maybe it quadruples the price of a machine.

Re: Ruffler & Walker Allwin List
Sounds like you've sussed out you can keep adding picture files, but I suspect you've tripped over the file size limit fairy who stays hidden happily watching you add files then chops what you're trying to send. It can be a remarkably small file it allows through .... sometimes ..... perhaps.

Re: Ruffler & Walker Allwin List
I've merged your two posts. File size limit should not have been a problem - I've set the limit very generously so we can upload high res. stuff when required. For normal purposes though, I recommend that individual files don't exceed 300 KB. This makes them easier to view, saves disc space and bandwidth and prevents pages from loading too slowly.jingle wrote:how do you put more than one picture on
Your 3 pics came in at just over 400KB, so no problem there. More likely something went wrong when composing your post. see How to Upload Images.
