Re: Time to ........
That's lovely (I expect). If you post a photo of it, we can all be jealous at the same time.

Re: Time to ........
Well finished number two, I seem to be very slow at the moment. So was red, but now it is green, as I changed the top casting which was actually a horrible diamond front repro cI guess done by an operator a long time ago. It had no reel posts as well.
So now a sickly green, just waiting for a set of cherries from the States, as I could not get any here. Hopefully will arrive next week.
Before
After
Next week I might play with electrical stuff like those Golding machines that were going into the Coventry auction.

Re: Time to ........
Number three done......definitely going to do a non-bandit next.....
The red one which I bought over 10 years ago from the guy at the Hill on the House Museum in a terrible state and has been flat packed since then. Kept the original retailer name on the side, wonder if they had any relationship to the main company Bell Automatics. It’s a mix match machine with Diamond front lower and Black Cherry upper and was going to make a total diamond front. Problem was I could not get hold of an original casting, everyone I got was repro and they never match. Also wonder if they had options made like this as noticed a number of others on the net... Anyway they work, even stuck Mills locks and cash boxes in them.
I am sure there are many faults one can find, but there is an obvious error note right hand machine I have intentionally left. Anyone guess?

Re: Time to ........
Well done! Yes, that cherry is upside down and I was going to turn it around, but there are marks in the paint, so just left. Bad day by whoever put together, probably in the U.K.
Now I never noticed the award card cherry on the same machine... Again came with this, but annoying as I have a spare proper one on another award and was short a normal cherry for another machine (stuck an ad on here a month ago), ended up buying a set from the US......
Now I know why I miss so many things at auctions....

Re: Time to ........
Well, The Slick is done and should really be going back to work, however it'll just end up back in the pile.
It looked like this .....
I'd had it a year or three, and remember playing them as a child.
Even with a substantially powerful paint stripper it took a bit to get to bare metal. Seems there were 5 top coats and 1 primer before I reached what was left of the original Hammerite (type?) light bluey green. Which it turns out is no longer available.
For those who don't know the game play, the next three photos show the three challenges.
There are 5 balls for 1d, and achieving a score of at least 9 returns you your penny. You really get a lot for your copper!!!!
Watch a test drive through the washing here ....

Hey.....I saw the player TILTING the machine. That's CHEATING.
Any more and we'll have to notify the establishment.

Re: Time to ........
Sadly I am aware that this particular player has done much more in his life to warrant being chastised than merely tilting a machine.
It has been suggested on more than one occasion that having changed his address 34 times since 1954 plays a major part in his continuing to stay at large!

Re: Time to ........
Nice machine badpenny, you are a busy man. First all the work on the machine and after that you did the laundry and when the laundry is drying you play the machine! Is this what they call multitasking?
Re: Time to ........
Very nice BP, yellow and blue goes so well together. The yellow background inside seems so intense now, was that just cleaned or painted...
I do recall playing JC’s machine in Brighton on my second visit, totally missed on the first trip which is odd as it was near the front...

Re: Time to ........
Thanks TF
The inside of the frame is the only bare wood (and the back of the playfield) on show.
So I stripped and repainted it to match.

Nice game, BP. Thank you for showing us.
Some impressively nimble finger-work there too, but that last obstacle's a bugger.

What a fantastic looking machine! Love the amount of action going on and I think I can hear a bell as well!

Re: Time to ........
They did have an electric bell fitted originally.
Due to the original design including a battery to operate the two solenoids plus bell, to save battery the bell was often disconnected or even removed.
This one has an electric power unit fitted, so I could have refitted a 12v dc bell, but I've had an old shop door bell on the end of a coiled spring, that I'd been keeping for such an occasion. So that's attached to the solenoid that progresses the score dial. Consequently every time you score a ball the dial advances one number to the gentle tinkle of a bell.
