"Big knobs" is the official coin-op collector parlance, but I'm afraid I've never been honoured with that title. I was quite active in the past but have bought few machines in recent years, firstly, because the items I seek rarely come up; secondly, I have no room left, and thirdly, prices seem too high now. I think TF has also had to slow down, especially with recent bandit prices. BP can speak for himself.

Years ago I successfully sold some machines on eBay when their fees were much lower and I've bought maybe a dozen games on eBay (some from the States), but not in recent years. Mostly it has been 'bricks and mortar' auctions and networking with other collectors. Doing exchanges or part exchanges is obviously very attractive because it avoids external fees, but can only be achieved when both collectors have what the other wants and can agree on the relative values. I believe quite a bit of this kind of networking goes on behind the scenes on this website.

This knob has never been known for being big ...... gob? Very likely, but that's about it.

I have bought from eBay, but as I refuse to commit to spending hundreds without seeing and have no intention of paying in order to achieve that ..... that's me finished.

I'm currently going through a downsizing phase. I do it every few years, generally going back to my roots, machines that hypnotised me as a child, bandits, Payramid, Slick, an allwin or two, pinball the rest I'll move on. If I don't play it anymore I get bored seeing it around, how often can you get excited playing your Bumper or Oddclod?

Maybe you need to create the 2017 Coventry thread ;-)

So sellers fees are 0%, that’s good........what are the buyers fees?

Looking forward to the big news |/XX\|

As per the last 11 years or is it 12? The announcement will appear under the Coventry Auction Thread which is under Auctions in the forum list.
This will coincide with all of the details and requirements appearing on the auction website.

Be prepared for a big announcement this year in recognition of it being our 11th or perhaps 12th year at Coventry. We shall be doing something totally original and captivating along the theme of a cup cake dowsed in petrol, set alight and chucked in the bin.
You all can then choose which of us two climbs up a ladder onto the roof of the Social Club and attempts to saw his head off with a grinder.
However we draw the line at asking you to pee in a bucket in the corner or freezing to death, sorry about that I guess we're just not that dedicated to the cause or to your comfort.

Vendor's commission will be 0% and buyer's 10% however the down side is that I shall not be picking up irreplaceable pieces of history in order to wave them around hap hazardly so as to insult your intelligence regarding what a particular machine looks like.
We shall of course arrange for the dancing girls and pole dancers to do their stuff, sadly The Dagenham Girls Pipers this year will be in Dagenham.

We're already starting the listings this year with over 2 dozen machines but sadly we're devoid of Di & Charles tin trays and we can't find any waste bins in the shape of Freddy the Frog for love nor money.
I can only guess somebody else has that market cornered. Just our luck! |/XX\|

Interesting advert for a Jennings Galaxy on Ebay and only about £500 over priced. The thing is, if you're going to forge a selling permit and photograph it at least make a good job of it.

So what's wrong with the permit? OK, the Galaxy may be grossly over-priced, but I believe this is a reputable seller. Accusations of forging a permit seem unfounded, unless I'm missing something here?

Well the Galaxy is I believe getting some competition with another seller listing his Galaxy too, tonight.

Second seller (not me!) had his removed initially, so applied for a permit. Interested to see if this second seller revises his selling price upwards from his initially listed price, based on the currently listed Galaxy pricing?

A lot of the info from the permit is missing from the one on Ebay. I can understand the seller blanking off his name, although that is in fact pointless as you can go online and track the licence number to find the name, a large portion of the permit has been poorly blanked off, which, according to the Commission makes this permit invalid as it appears on ebay.
Should look like this
slot licence2.jpg

but looks like this
slot licence 3.jpg

I guess you could be right and the guy is simply thinking he is hiding his ID, which he is not. I certainly would have made a better job if just covering my name. Don't misunderstand me, I might have, accidentally, used an expired licence my self in the past. I didnt say he was wrong if that's what he did, just that he didn't make a good job of it.

Suspect what got JC going was the word “forged”, which if you look at the Galaxy Aristo mentioned on eBay just listed seems to use the new more basic format.....

Still, I believe it is a waste of time selling on eBay, would never do, damn crooks and too much hastle.

Now this is expensive, BUT is this just a way of showing the machine to the masses then selling at the correct price off ebay? His only description is his email and phone number, name and address OR is this one of the recently discussed classified ads? He is a registered business seller (car dealer). Interesting to see how long the ad stays up if it's not.

Interested to read in the financial press today that ebay are about to re vamp their whole business plan due to them loosing ground to rivals like Amazon. Although their figures are still increasing the trend is heading for a decrease very soon. Auction sales now account for only 1 in 10 of their sales which puts most of their "buy it now" business in direct competition with the likes of Amazon and esty. Rather than beef up the auction side which has little competition they intend to further run it down or at least push it towards a shop style selling area. Already I notice that the longest insertion time for an add has changed from 30 days to "until canceled". Expect to see major changes over the next year, not that Ebay is the useful platform it used to be for the likes of us,no, not for a long time. Expect Ebay to become Amazon(2) in the next five years.
When I first started on Ebay I sold small pieces of antique china mostly to the USA, buyers would put dollar bills in an envelope and send to me,then Id send the item to them, but that was almost 20 years ago, long gone are those trusting days :#:

Split & moved from Why is this so Expensive - Site Admin.

I know not in this case but BP missed one reason for putting machines up at crazy prices - seller doesn't intend to sell on ebay but wants buyers to contact him so he can sell at a better price direct.

It's almost impossible now it's true, BUT a lot of sellers haven't realized that yet. Lots are still saying "come and look before you buy", " send me your email so I can send more details" etc. It will die out very soon as they get bumped off the site or warned. You can't even send a photo of your email address any more. Their latest police ware can spot that now.

A lot of sellers just changed their seller username to a mobile number. I have been told eBay will shortly be closing that option down too but it's a good option for now as it doesn't violate any current ebay policy.
