More bloody stupid ebay rules

Well the Galaxy is I believe getting some competition with another seller listing his Galaxy too, tonight.

Second seller (not me!) had his removed initially, so applied for a permit. Interested to see if this second seller revises his selling price upwards from his initially listed price, based on the currently listed Galaxy pricing?

So what's wrong with the permit? OK, the Galaxy may be grossly over-priced, but I believe this is a reputable seller. Accusations of forging a permit seem unfounded, unless I'm missing something here?

A lot of the info from the permit is missing from the one on Ebay. I can understand the seller blanking off his name, although that is in fact pointless as you can go online and track the licence number to find the name, a large portion of the permit has been poorly blanked off, which, according to the Commission makes this permit invalid as it appears on ebay.

I guess you could be right and the guy is simply thinking he is hiding his ID, which he is not. I certainly would have made a better job if just covering my name. Don't misunderstand me, I might have, accidentally, used an expired licence my self in the past. I didnt say he was wrong if that's what he did, just that he didn't make a good job of it.

Suspect what got JC going was the word “forged”, which if you look at the Galaxy Aristo mentioned on eBay just listed seems to use the new more basic format.....

Still, I believe it is a waste of time selling on eBay, would never do, damn crooks and too much hastle.

Well the other Jennings Galaxy is now on with start price just 99p and stand included too.

Now this is expensive, BUT is this just a way of showing the machine to the masses then selling at the correct price off ebay? His only description is his email and phone number, name and address OR is this one of the recently discussed classified ads? He is a registered business seller (car dealer). Interesting to see how long the ad stays up if it's not.

Interested to read in the financial press today that ebay are about to re vamp their whole business plan due to them loosing ground to rivals like Amazon. Although their figures are still increasing the trend is heading for a decrease very soon. Auction sales now account for only 1 in 10 of their sales which puts most of their "buy it now" business in direct competition with the likes of Amazon and esty. Rather than beef up the auction side which has little competition they intend to further run it down or at least push it towards a shop style selling area. Already I notice that the longest insertion time for an add has changed from 30 days to "until canceled". Expect to see major changes over the next year,not that Ebay is the useful platform it used to be for the likes of us,no, not for a long time. Expect Ebay to become Amazon(2) in the next five years.
When I first started on Ebay I sold small pieces of antique china mostly to the USA, buyers would put dollar bills in an envelope and send to me,then Id send the item to them,but that was almost 20 years ago,long gone are those trusting days

I know not in this case but BP missed one reason for putting machines up at crazy prices - seller doesn't intend to sell on ebay but wants buyers to contact him so he can sell at a better price direct.

I thought eBay had made it difficult to do that now?

It's almost impossible now it's true, BUT a lot of sellers haven't realized that yet. Lots are still saying "come and look before you buy", " send me your email so I can send more details" etc. It will die out very soon as they get bumped off the site or warned. You can't even send a photo of your email address any more. Their latest police ware can spot that now.

A lot of sellers just changed their seller username to a mobile number. I have been told eBay will shortly be closing that option down too but it's a good option for now as it doesn't violate any current ebay policy.
