Always have to have a look when you see an interesting machine on eBay and the below Spitfire Allwin is no different as very bright and impressive look, but then I look closer and see it has been mostly been constructed. A lot of work has gone into this, especially on the mechanical side. The flicker must be the biggest flicker in the West, I assume some kind of door handle. The cabinet though looks original including hinges.....

Hi all,
Just had a look at this allwin on ebay. Was it made recently? I have noticed all Phillips screws & modern bolts on the mech? Although I already have one of these, something tells me to steer well clear…

As TF has noted, the above allwin is a recreation. Honourable as it may be, it's not a Spitfire. The strange thing is, that the maker of this machine should have called it Spitfire, which were actually quite small allwins. The dimensions given in the listing on ebay would seem more akin to a Defiant. Picture below of my Spitfire, which I sold a couple of months ago.

Not a Spitfire, but another homemade Allwin, the Seven, with what’s look to be an identical door handle finished on eBay today. Not knocking people who make homemade machines and jolly good luck as they often look fun and an interesting hobby aside, but what I cannot get over is this fetched £720........of course the recent bumper fetched a good sum as well, but I guess that was an exception to a unique machine.

I think it is time to stop fixing machines and start making them, you can but a brand new oak retro arcade machine for that
