Mills 21 Bell-O-Matic

Post by dutchboy »

Good evening everyone,
I did see this machine for sale which I can't find much about. I can't see it before the coming weekend, so maybe someone over here has some info about it? Is it mechanical or electric for example? I am just very very curious! !!ANYONE!!
Greetings, duchboy.

This is a late Mills machine - yes, mechanical and still with the visible escalator. Used and geared towards the Casinos as per the theme. I have an identical one, but can't find a picture at the moment, bought a few years ago off this site from JC. I love late Mills machines. The one below is not mine and also has the jackpot.

Made by Mills Bell-O-Matic in their Reno plant, probably early '60s.

I could buy the 21 Bell-o-Matic, but had a little accident with my foot. So could do nothing with it. Nice machine with some issues. No keys, but opened the door with a paperclip. A crack in the glass - I hope there's something to take it out of sight. They changed some symbols on the reels. When there are three sevens on the win line, it won't pay out. (I think the vertical payout finger to the right is too big for the hole). Will this be the Mystery Pay? The payout was OK but now it pays some coins too short. I will take out the slides to clean. Sounds all familiar? It was working on old Dutch Guilders, which I think are the same size as 25 Dollar cents that is named on the coin entry. Some pics.
Greetings, dutchboy.

I like the look of it. If the cracked glass is the plain one, then replace it of course. If it's the painted glass, you will need the kit shown below which you can buy from any car repair shop or online for about 20 euro.
This is a windscreen repair kit and the result is truly remarkable. If you do it carefully, not only will it seal the crack but the crack will disappear completely, no matter how long the crack is, as long as there is no dirt actually in the crack.

The reason for the wrong number of coins being paid out might be because it's set for 25c and you're using Guilders, which will be slightly thinner. The added symbols on the reels are clearly an operator change to reduce the number of payouts and might confuse you till you work out what it (a) is doing (the new payouts) and (b) what you want it to do (the original payouts).

Thanks for the info coppingpr. This weekend at the Elephant House will be quarter dollars at auction. I will try to get them. The machine didn't work for over thirty years, so I think this will be the cause of the payout. For the moment I will do nothing with the strips, maybe later. It's indeed a nice model.
Greetings

I have this machine painted and work a bit on it when I remembered you told your knob was red. I have a green one extra, so if you need one tom? Now continue with slides with drilled holes like the moon, non fitting lighting, missing tubes and bad strips. :HaHa:
