Goalllllll

Enter the Honourable Judge's favourite tavern for a dram of Tittle Tattle. There's an ancient bandit in the corner, but I forget his name...

Wow! We've managed to stay in the World Cup by the skin of our teeth, thanks to blistering performance in a vaguely football-related tie-break...

I spoke to a rugby player yesterday, who informed me the difference between rugby players and football players is that rugby players spend 80% of the match pretending they are not hurt, whereas football players spend 80% of the match pretending they are hurt!

The best players in the world should be playing in skirts. Sadly enough all the crying leads to results.

Also possible, I meant that they behave like a woman. Although I don’t want to offend women. :D

I don't understand overly the ins & outs of Soccerball Mr Son of Peter.
However as I understand it our team of eleven millionaires are now facing the semi finals, after which come the finals.

At least that was how I remember it working when I was 12 the last time we won it. Mind you the best thing of that kerfuffle in 1966 was before we won the cup we managed to lose it. It was stolen by a gangster and his brother, although only one of them was ever caught. It's believed the other one went onto to dedicate his life to even more serious crime. Some say he now collects amusement machines.

The trophy was found by Pickles The Dog.

For some reason, I always thought that it was the FA CUP which was stolen.

Wiki says …….

The 1894–1895 FA Cup was the 24th season of the world's oldest association football competition, the Football Association Challenge Cup (more usually known as the FA Cup). The cup was won by Aston Villa, who defeated West Bromwich Albion 1–0 in the final of the competition, played at Crystal Palace in London. This was Villa's second victory in the FA Cup.
The Trophy was stolen from a display in the shop window of W. Shillcock (a football fitter) in Newton Row, Birmingham, after the Final and never recovered despite a £10 reward. According to the Police, it was taken sometime between 21:30 on Wednesday 11 September and 7:30 the following morning, along with cash from a drawer.[1] The cup was replaced by a copy of the original, made by Howard Vaughton, the former Aston Villa player and England international, who had opened a silversmith's business after his retirement from the game.

Incidentally the World Cup that was stolen in 1966 was again stolen in 1983 and not recovered.

BP

ps If we get to the final this year I shall watch it, however I publicly disclose that I have never attended a football match in my life. The idea of wasting 90+ minutes of my life watching 22 millionaires rolling on the grass in agony because they've got a split nail would be hell.
