Re: Anyone know what it is?
Hi Willborl , I have also been looking at this machine on Ebay, I thought it was French or German but I have just looked again and seen this label... it has what looks like a patent number at the bottom but it is to small to read ... come on who knows what it is .......

It's an Edgerton Manufacturing Co. Double Loop, a quite rare double event allwin with token payout.
Patent GB191009165, 1911.

Edgerton Double Loop identified at Staceys

Thought I had better wait until the end of the auction, but the below machine finished today at Staceys Auction in Rayleigh Essex as most will have seen. Did go and view on Sunday and looked a nice original machine with nice oak finish and painted artwork at the top. Trouble is who made this, could not find in my books....finished a healthy £1120 inc commission with someone in the room....

Re: Staceys to be identified machine
It's the Edgerton Double Loop, Patented by CH Stapleton in 1911. You'll find a couple of previous sales records of these in the Arena - one selling at Christie's for £400 in 2006 and another at Coventry for £1500 in 2009. Nice to see these early wall machines getting a bit of respect again, even though it put it well above my bid.

Re: Edgerton Double Loop identified at Staceys
I had the misfortune of underbidding again , I was bidding on the internet so was being charged an extra 3% for the privilege, the buyer was on the phone. I have owned three of these but this looked to be the best one, nice unrestored, so went the extra bids. I liked these games as they are one of the few games with a left handed coin slot.
Re: Edgerton Double Loop identified at Staceys
Whoever got it will be pleased, very original unusual machine. The only thing that looked newer maybe was the felt, but of course may have had light use.
Very unusual play with a flap at the top to allow the ball into the top loop controlled by the ball release. The balls were hidden in the double token vendors, so I was able to test the play. Shame I never took any pictures as the mechanism had an unusual chain driven feature for the flap and ball release.....only things missing were the key and top gallery. Even had the original cash tray...

Thanks TF, wish I had gone more now, but I hadn't viewed, but here's a pic of the mech.

Re: Edgerton Double Loop identified
Thanks for that, had a chance to look at mine and it can hold 3 balls in reserve and has another to play the game. I presume only 1 ball is delivered for 1d. Also it would not play with 9/16"balls, the reserve needed larger balls to fill the space, so I used 5/8" and now it works fine.
Re: Edgerton Double Loop identified
Hi Daveslot. Did you source some composite balls or are using chrome/stainless steel? If the former could you let know where from? Also could you possibly upload a picture of the mechanism? Be great to see full picture of your machine.

Gender fluid. Where can I order that? I think I'm about a quart low.

Re: Edgerton Double Loop identified
I had a few vintage composite balls in stock. There's 2 pictures of the mech in this thread already. Mine is identical.

Re: Edgerton Double Loop identified
Hi, I’ve just acquired an Edgerton Double Loop that came with 4 steel balls. Was interested to read this old thread saying it should have composite balls. Does anyone know where to acquire an equivalent to composite balls? I’ve searched a few bearing suppliers and 5/8" bearings are available in a wide variety of materials but I don’t know where to start in terms of finding something that will deal with the hammer impact and still be as light as a vintage composite ball. Any advice welcomed.
