Spitfire Allwin

Always have to have a look when you see an interesting machine on eBay and the below Spitfire Allwin is no different as very bright and impressive look, but then I look closer and see it has been mostly been constructed. A lot of work has gone into this, especially on the mechanical side. The flicker must be the biggest flicker in the West, I assume some kind of door handle. The cabinet though looks original including hinges.....

Hi all,
Just had a look at this allwin on ebay. Was it made recently? I have noticed all Phillips screws & modern bolts on the mech? Although I already have one of these, something tells me to steer well clear…

As TF has noted, this is a recreation. Honourable as it may be, it's not a Spitfire. The strange thing is, that the maker of this machine should have called it Spitfire, which were actually quite small allwins. The dimensions given in the listing on ebay would seem more akin to a Defiant. Picture below of my Spitfire, which I sold a couple of months ago.

a 'cobbled' together repro with not very well balanced graphics, not at all good looking in my eyes - the ebay machine, not your former machine Jerry!

A spitfire Allwin on eBay at the moment, interesting in that it looks to have been housed in a case that once had Bryan's chrome corners on, I wonder if this case was also re-used by Bryan's to house one of their early Allwins in the 1950s?
