One arm bandit fluorescent tube lighting

Post by new_kid_on_the_block »

I am new to penny machines and recently acquired an Aristocrat Arcadian.

Mechanism works fine but did not have power lead. I have since purchased a power lead which works and is getting power to the light box however lights aren't fully working.

I bought the new tubes and starter from amazon, see below:

Bulbs are flickering and sometimes only turn on when I touch them? Could this be wrong bulb or starter type? Any ideas?

Sorry have very little electrical/lighting experience!

You need series starters......the ones with FS on are no good, in fact as has been mentioned by one of our colleagues going to places like B&Q and maybe Amazon will not work unless you find the right type.

I buy St155 starters, not expensive rated from 4w to 22w

Welcome by the way

What a nice looking Arcadian.
This is what yooser27's belly glass probably said, before the Decimalizers got to it.
Is yours still on tanners?

Takes old penny, but I am looking for a denominator as it’s missing. Any ideas where to get one?

It's on Old Penny, with a 5/- token.
That's a rare combination for British use. Perhaps it was popular in Australia?
I'm sure Powell's Automatics could find you a suitable badge; or you could make one up, just like the old Operators did.
