Aristocrat Mad Melons jackpot mechanism

Post by perre64 »

Since the jackpot is new to me and I don't understand exactly how it works I put up some photos to see if anyone can help me.
Is there some some parts missing or something else that doesn't look right?
Would be nice to know before I try it inside the machine.

Look ok to me and very clean. Was this already on your machine, if not do you have the reset bar and the rod that holds the jackpot to the machine

Looked like this when I bought it.
Is that the reset bar on the right side of the jackpot box?

I see where you're coming from, but honestly it's only a two minute job to fit it in place, then you can force a jack pot win and then you'll know.
As opposed to a bunch of us old farts racking our brains and squinting to work out which angle your photos were taken. All while trying to forget what's involved in Mills/Sega, Jennings, QT, Groetchen or Watling jack pots which are not only all different but can come our way more often.
As already commented, it looks very clean, just ensure all that moves does so easily. Lightly oil.
Anything with a spring gets returned easily.
Anyhoo I usually find it's easier to problem solve when a mech is supposed to work as you can see what doesn't move or connect.

Bung it on and give it a go, if it works, then much rejoicing, if not, note what happened and then we can start head scratching alphabetically.

Now I've tried it inside the machine and everything seems to be working....kind of....
Just wondering: In which position should this be?

If I remember corruptly that's the anti-trip lock.

When it's in that position it's locked and won't dump.
It's purpose is to stop you scrabbling around on the floor in your best trousers and swearing while you pick up a few dozen coins.
The contents of the bank will explode out when you hinge it out of the way for maintenance, or slide up the hinge pin to remove it completely, if you haven't put the locking bar in place.
Likewise, if you don't unlock it before closing the case then it won't pay out if the reels drop.

That's a great explanation.
Now I finally understand how it works.
Thanks again BP. :tarah:

Probably the one who is the closest to the center of the disc. You can follow the vertical lever to the horizontal lever. Then you can see which lever will push all the horizontal levers.

One would assume the closest to the hub is always the case, but on Aristos, this is not always the case. I have seen some machines with double fingers and only the outer or right hand fingers are used. More than likely the 5th or 6th one in from outside. I have a gold star I have just checked and it has two sets of holes for jackpot, 5th and 7th holes in. Don’t have a Mad Money in front of me, so as Dutchboy says, line up and check.
