Searching for something on the Patents page I found GB351399: Improvements in Coin-Freed Delivery Apparatus applied for in 1930 by Charles Knight of 585, Seven Sisters Road, Tottenham, London. I posted a picture of this game to this topic in 2015.

I used to own this machine. It only paid out a single cig, not a packet like the patent suggests.

Circle Skill Machine

Post by brianh »

Hi all

I notice on the EH auction for this coming Sunday there is a Circus Skill Machine which looks interesting. Having not looked at one of these before though, it's silly questions time - I'm a bit confused at the workings. As you will see from the pics there appear to be 3 prize drawers but only 2 award chutes inside. Is it something obvious in that the middle one is missing or does the centre section have another function? !PUZZLED!

Yes the middle column is missing from the Circle Skill, you can see the mark where it was screwed at the top and the two empty holes.

Thanks Gameswat, thought that might be the case but wondered if I was missing something (apart from the tubes!). Do you by any chance know what this machine was designed to pay out? Would it be cigs for example? Sorry to be so thick but haven't seen one of these before.

Brianh, yes small packets of cigarettes. They are usually nice quality machines. Though less skill required than the name would suggest as the ball tends to drop very quickly though the pinfield with little chance of aiming it into a cup! I always preferred trying to keep the ball in the pinfield for as long as possible. I could sometimes make the play last up to 45 seconds when I had my wits about me. |/XX\|

Hi Everyone, this might be a very easy question but can someone identify the machine in the picture. Also is it missing any instructions and if so does anyone have a copy? Thanks

It's a Circle Skill. Just put that in the site search and you'll get lots of info.

I've now merged your query with the existing Circle Skill and variants topic where you'll also find more information and a couple of images of the instructions.
A full size instruction card is also available in Resources: Circle Skill & Circle Profit Sharer instruction cards.
