Bryans Walden Goliath Crane on Ebay-USA

Post by john t peterson »

For those of you running out of space in your house, (and who among us isn't, other than BadPenny and his ever expandable shed) may I suggest you consider bidding on the Bryans Walden Goliath Crane currently on Ebay - USA, item number 260460909560. You could place at least five allwins inside and the crackle paint is sure to please the Missus. Starting at $500 USD, how can you not?

It is - but for an extra £5 it could be supplied with an electric motor. See the flyers.

£40 back in 1936 must have been a huge amount!!
Which was more desirable do you think, the manual or the electric? :)

My guess is the punters preferred the electric model; more modern and exciting from their perspective. The owners-operators would have preferred the manual model; less maintenance required over the life of the crane.

I think the manual versions would've been more popular with the players and less popular with the operators. The manual appears to give the player more control. And just look at how poorly the electric mutoscopes did back when they were introduced, people love having control over what's happening.

Just a thought,

Did this crane split in half so that it could be moved easier like the Bryans Foursquare?

These cranes are huge aren't they? So would've been hard to move or even deliver, wouldn't it? :-?
