The Lovett 'Chumbley' didn't sell, then.
Was there a reserve, or is there simply nobody who wants to take it on?

I see Steve is starting online auctions in May are they going to be like ebay? I wonder if live ones at the elephant house will happen again?

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
I understand that he's done a deal with easylive, so it will be a proper live auction with an auctioneer, but online.
He can't use the EH until the roof is fixed.

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
So much for collector connector. A complete waste of money for me over the past several months. I won an auction for a coin tube in the middle of January this year and have been waiting ever since for a reply to my emails requesting it be posted to me.
There is no phone number to get hold of him and my only means has been by his website when I have logged in.
Anybody else has issues with this business? I notice also that the £10 a month charge is still on going even with no auction sales.

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
Got on well with CC. Bought several machines and bits. Service pretty good, but patchy when Steve is trying to juggle a bit too much. It doesn't bother me really as its a place to buy things outside of Ebay and get an honest opinion from someone who knows as to the quality of the item.
Steve was unwell earlier in the year, things went a bit wibbly then. If you message him now I'd imagine he'd be straight back to you.
It can be frustrating but it isn't a high end Christies type operation, and the prices charged reflect that.
I will say that I entered three items from the Fairground Heritage Trust and Steve offered to fix them for a nominal fee so that they'd achieve a greater price. I am very grateful for him doing so as it made the Trust £1k rather than perhaps half that figure for three piles of bits.

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
I have bought 2 or 3 items via Collector Corner and have always found Steve easy to message, always replied, and as far as I'm concerned he runs an efficient little business for very little reward it seems.
Were that there were more people with his initiative, drive and interest. But there are aren't!

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
Funny this thread in now 134 pages longs, the longest thread on the forum, so must have been popular for a reason
Over the years there are those that have had good, bad and varied experiences and suspect it is difficult to dismiss anyones experiences or views over time. Steve operates on his own, especially now and is exceptionally helpful, but I know he may get busy, or miss things. On the message facility on the Colcon site, he normally responds within 24 hours to any questions on there…….
In some ways it is a shame the membership system with free sales did not work well enough to get people on boarded as conceptually it grew on me, except blind bidding. I sold I think 15 machines, some did well some less so. Also bought lots of things. Alternative now will be higher commissions, which normal auctions bring….

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
Steve's a good sort just takes on a bit too much, for all those moaning about selling formats and membership fees and winging in general as I said before you can always advertise your machines for sale on here for very little I will wait for the stampede!
Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
Looks like the auction will be going ‘live’ on 29th May. Machines are trickling in daily so I suspect this will be a pretty big auction. Like many, I’d prefer the old style auctions but times are a changing.
In relation to selling in the sales/wants add, fixed price formats don’t seem so popular as auctions as I’m guessing owners want to achieve the best realistic price/s for their machines.

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
Why are times changing?.. Its only down to confidence in the future of another lockdown. Surely that's over now...... Old style auctions for me...

Re: EH / Collector Connector sales
I tend to agree with you there jimmy.
Of course it's not simply a case of "Further lockdowns unlikely. So let's just get on with it".
The support industries like venues, table hire, catering etc have changed as well.
Yet the big word is as you say "Confidence".
You clearly have it in abundance, plus: -
You're Central England
You've got a farm with barns (?)
The Bat Cave
Parking
You're a seasoned auction attender so know what happens.
Choose a sensible date, work the timescale backwards and go public!!!
I'll look after Jayne for you.

Jayne here, what a fabulous idea.
I'll get Jimmy to go in partnership with you, he can provide the barn and parking, you can sort out the auction etc
I'll bake some cakes

OK Jayne ...
I really see you as the brains of the outfit.
As such you and I need to have a weekend conference away somewhere cough-cough merely to plan strategy you understand!
Jimmy needn't attend if all he's going to do is open the barn doors and put up a sign ...
