R&W Steer-a-Car & Bally Play Basket Ball

Post by pennymachines »

In case anyone is wondering, these two are mine, but I'm using my niece's ebay account. She uses eBay more than I do, so she often gets commission-free listings. Apparently they're allocated randomly, but I don't recall being offered them.

Must be the smallest driving game known; and a two-player one at that.
I'm on it.
Where the hell is Walsall? I'll bet it's bl**dy miles away!

I had assumed they were, and Nursey says you talk in your sleep.
I was surprised there wasn't any overt activity on them until now.
I like the driving game, played them a lot as a young thug.

I've always allowed (even encouraged) people to post about items they or others are selling in other auctions here - hence this Auction category in the forum. That's different from using the forum directly to advertise. That said, I'm currently upgrading the pennymachines Auction/Market and will be using it to sell the rest of my collection. :o

Well OK, using it to sell some other machines I can bear to part with...

Dam, would have come third. But wasn't looking forward to travelling to Walsall and I haven't got anywhere to put it , so relieved really 🤔

Love those last second bidders! Mr. PM, I hope you're taking your niece and Nursey out for a very nice dinner.

Seems I was one that pushed it up quite nicely at the end. I was in two minds about buying to operate it, the main reason being anything with steering wheel/s that move things even when not playing the machine are a magnet to kids riving the wheel/s from side to side, much like Steer-a-Ball.
I think the mechanism with the cars on would have been an ongoing service problem in an arcade rather than a private collection, along with the coin return mechanism as they happily jam that up too like the Climbing Monkeys coin mech.
One thing I did notice is that my enthusiasm to buy it did wane towards the final days, whereas when I first spotted it I had it in my mind to buy it at a higher price than I ended up bidding.

We had a lovely takeaway from our favourite Balti curry house, sadly now closed. :-(
The car game, which went to a member of this site, is probably already fixed and working and waiting to take pennies again when things open up (hopefully next year).
Play Basket Ball went to a pinball museum in Budapest!
