Hello, and thanks for having me

Post by leef »

Hi. I've joined as I've just started to restore an old bandit which has been in my possession since I was about 10. And it's looking rather worse for wear. It's a... Jubilee Riviera! My Dad told me it came from Morecambe Pier when it fell into the sea. He had many old fruit machines when I was a child, and decided I should get in on the act with this and a 1960s Rockola jukebox. ANYway, I've started with the most boring bit, cleaning it. I've disassembled the coin tray to sort that first, before moving on to the rest of the case, then the electrics, and finally I'll service the mechanicals - the bit that always fascinated me when I was young. Any tips greatly appreciated. Lee.

Welcome,
Hope that bandit didn't literally come from the sea!

Welcome to the Forum. THE Forum, that is...
I remember the incident, and the half-buried machines full of sand after the tide had done its work.
I was all for digging one out, but the grown-ups played the usual 'come away from there' card.
West End pier was my usual haunt, with visits to Central as a rare change!
