BMCo Looping The Falls identified

Post by chriscalver »

Hello,

I have the opportunity to purchase this machine, but can't seem to find any information anywhere about it.

There appears to be a ledge/shelf that can be moved by the player to drop the ball in one of the 'win holes' below it.

Please see pictures below.... Hopefully someone can help identify it.

Regards

Hi, I had one very similar and reckon it's B.M.CO. Could be wrong though.

Very nice. If it's under a grand, I would buy it.

Great machine and unusual.

It is similar to the one that sold at the Eastbourne auction last year. Mighty long locks on that machine. !OMFG!

The hardware definitely looks like BM Co. Treefrog's example looks complete as opposed to Chris's, which is missing the small arm on the top right side, intended to stop the ball rocketing off the circular rails. This slows down the ball and allows for a controlled roll down the two slant rails before entering the player actuated drop rail. Too much ball momentum makes the play very difficult.

To everyone that has replied..... Very much appreciated and thanks.

I beleive it to be a BM Co machine, not only from Treefrog's picture above, but searching through the Web.

I'm happy to say, I have purchased the machine and have a majority of the 'missing parts' included.

I would love to find out the original name of the machine to get the head/title banner replaced (albeit not original).

A nice little project for a good price.

Thank you again.

Photos of the machines mechanism would be interesting to see. Is it auto-pay, or just coin return?

A similar "back & forth" arrangement for the ball track was used on "Luna Park" in (I think) the early 1960s. The push button operated "shelf" over the lower win cups was much the same and IIRC, getting a win of more than 2 pennies was close to impossible.

The machine that treeefrog showed has the handle missing, so you can't move the bottom ledge. It would be impossible to get the ball into the winning cups. I was at the Eastbourne auction when it was sold. Also no keys, and I saw a lot of woodworm dust inside. Saying that I was interested, but it went up too much for my price range. A result really as soon after I bought a Samson Slick which also has the push in bar at the bottom.

Looping the Falls appears to be the name of this game, as evidenced by this early coin-return version.

PM, I imagine that probably isn't the same name as the earlier machines shown since they have more cups. BMCo seemed to have totally unique names for every single playfield variation no matter how small.

True... This one looks earlier than the others. An appropriate name given the playfield though.
