There's a new girl in my life

Post by mikef »

Topic moved - Site Admin.

It was love at first sight as soon as I clapped eyes on her. Talk about using bits off her for spares made me decide I had to step in, do the gallant thing and save her.
Clearly started life in Germany and came over to the UK for a "make over", but who created such a beauty and does anyone recognise those curvaceous lines or the castings....... possibly off the original or made as part of her transformation into the goddess she is today?
There is still one panel intact, albeit eaten alive. I should be able to build a new case, but not sure how the base would have gone, so hoping some similar examples will be posted....
So come on guys, help me try to identify and save her.
Thank you
Mike

Like others I was tempted to go for this, but would have sat around for a long time before finding the time to do anything. I love the name, the main driver on this one, very '50s '60s un-PC today, but cool at the time.

Never seen one before or probably again and who knows which of the U.K. companies did this… Looking forward to seeing finished item.. !!THUMBSX2!!

If it had been closer to me I'd have been tempted too.

Update on the make over !!!
Had to replace all the wood from a doner table of the same period as it was riddled with wood worm, but all metal and castings were saved.
Still need to get hold of wood for the base and back, so it's back to trawling the junk / charity shops.
No clues as to who put her together, so if anyone has any ideas, please let me know.
Onto the mechanism....... :smash:

You will have to get a Gunter Wolff bandit mechanism to fill that lovely case. Although how one could pay out 1d beats me - all the pay slides I have seen go in multiples of 2.

Luckily she came with most the mechanism. It's been sitting in the garage covered in WD40 waiting for me to move onto it.
There's a few bits missing, but won't know exactly what I will need until I get stuck in.
Thank you for you kind comments. !!THUMBSX2!!

Looks great! It's a nice thing when enthusiasts make the effort with the quirky machines too, to bring them back from the brink.
