Not much help, unless hand luggage can travel unaccompanied, as non-essential travel to Australia's currently verboten.

Well to add my two cents worth, equally good and bad news for any potential overseas buyer of this thing.

Good - even though it's running on 1 Shilling, that's still the same size of our current 10 cent, so in the eyes of the Aussie law this is highly illegal to own here. and serious Aussie coin-op collectors either won't touch it or possibly some bargain hunters will pay a very negligible amount, especially in current state.
Good - almost none of the Aussie slots have ever been very popular here so always been undervalued.
Bad - due to covid lockdowns all around the country local freight has skyrocketed, I just had a light weight alloy nitrogen medical dewar/flask quoted road from Perth to Qld at 3 x times the normal cost which even though I was selling as a huge bargain, killed that deal.
Bad - Almost no flights into or out of the country so overseas freight has been horrendously expensive the last 20 months! And sooo damn slow, I had small jukebox parts sent from Europe last year that I forgot where even coming they took that long. Something this heavy and fragile is just asking to be damaged in the months it will likely take. And seller is unlikely to be a knowledgeable packer of this kind of thing.
So good luck!! !OMFG!

Yes it is a real shame, I remember when considering some other slots from Aus, searching out professional packers who would collect and it was very difficult, now as mentioned shipping has gone mad…… containers that cost £3000 per unit from China are now costing £30000……

I will keeping dreaming

I had a container arrive last week from China and it was horrendous at three+ times the old price(worked out around £600 per pallet (but nothing like your 10X) My shipping agent says it looks like the costs are at their peak right now and should start to drop, but, of course, they will never return to the old prices.

Not really. He has a captive audience. We need to get our stuff in whatever the cost, and he doesn't like the high costs. Sure, they get passed onto the customer, but he gets all the flack and is forced to trim his side of things to stay competitive. He's a friend anyway, someone I can talk to outside of the work environment.

Of course it's not all plain sailing:

This Clubmaster, early or late?

Post by coppinpr »

Post moved & merged - Site Admin.

I've had an inquiry about this machine as to its date. As you can see it's not quite the usual model. I was wondering if this was perhaps an early version or indeed a late version. Also, what year did they stop making the Clubmaster? 1958 or later? It looks to have the "Ainsworth Dental Co." badge top left.

If you look a few pages earlier, you will see this machine, which was badged the New Clubman. The only difference is that this machine has the coin entry from “The Aristocrat”.

Shame it is missing the trim on the lower casting. I would say this predates the Clubmaster we know, and may have been the transition period.

Does he want to sell it to me cheap? :HaHa:

Markko,

Getting hold of an original mechanism will be tough, but main differences to a later version is the coin entry and the older mechanism used metal star wheels. I have seen many later mechanisms in Clubmasters, you just need a coin entry chute see below picture. Also your mechanism is missing the coin overflow chute to the cashbox, so you could make something.

This is the third chrome version I have now seen and wonder is original factory option, maybe the deluxe version as previously suggested on the site.

Last week i did get a aristocrat clubmaster with a beautiful color! This i have to paint for sure, should it be the best to give a hammertone blue? On the coinentry of the mechanism there someting to reset a stuck coin, the coinentry is split into two parts i don’t think it’s original. There is even a doorstop on top of the casting so it won’t damage when opening. There’s also the remains of foam in the inside of the machine just like in the earlier aristocrat i have. The machine misses the parts around the awardcard and the aristocrat name plate, does somebody knows where to get someting like that? For sure it has to be on it, it gives character.

Interesting colours…

The trim you’re talking about I assume is the wire mesh which was also on the Sheerline range of machines. I have seen people replace this with a larger mesh, which always looks odd, so one as close as possible to the original size would be best. Wire mesh can be found online or at good hardware stores and bend and cut to shape.

What is interesting is the lever on the top right, maybe an aftermarket coin reject !PUZZLED! never seen one, does it do anything

The lever is fascinating.
Does it have the cunning cash box? It stays open to accept money while in its compartment, but the moment you remove it it slams shut and locks.
Hammerite paint (not smooth) is correct.

Thanks for your replies treefrog/badpenny. I will post some pictures of it. I think they made it at a later moment maybe because the use of foreign coins? The cashbox is without the toppiece sadly. I didn’t mention yet that they added light in it with yellow tape on it to create the warm colour from it. As last i will show a pic of the doorstop, i think they put that one on so the beautifull colours don’t get damaged when opening the machine :HaHa:
