Post by geordy55 »

Topic moved to Tips & Trips - Site Admin.

Me again after more advice.

What techniques do people use to restore metal award cards such as this one ?

I rarely bother, too lazy, but you could carefully apply Vaseline to the non indented areas near where the indented areas are located and paint indented fruits and numbers with correct colours using enamel paint and when dry, wipe off the Vaseline applied areas…….. even if you miss an area with Vaseline, your nail should be able to remove the paint. Probably polish metal plate before painting.

Well, I gave it a go and I’m pretty happy with the result.

I put it into an ultrasonic cleaner which removed every bit of paint/ink, then under a microscope with a very fine brush added the paints back onto the plate. I used Tamiya lacquer paint.
