People are mad. For some reason 50p coins have become a thing for worn out and not that rare coins, all because of hearsay. Reminds me of the supposed rare 20p coin with the wrong year on. They still sell for loads on eBay and were made in their 100,000s... proper rare coins, real collectors collect. Now the 50p coins that are rare and really worth collecting are the solid gold ones, as they were often made with fewer than a 1000 issued...

I suppose it's a typical story from the mainstream media, manipulated so as to appeal to the sullied masses.
I've just been researching the other types of errors found on coins...
It looks like all the decent ones are in the bag by now.
