Allwin Defiant labels

Post by martynbr »

Hi everyone,

Does anyone have the allwin Defiant labels already completed and ready to print? Thought I would ask and it would save me a job.

Thanks

The bottom label must be an operator's mod, surely?

No, it appears to be the original design. On the example in the Museum you can just make out the WHALES of REDCAR logo on the instruction card.

You can see the card in place in this old photo from the Whales trade stand.

The Spitfire, which also has the instructions in the centre, has a similar card.

If you compare the 'Original Design' of the bottom label with the one on the restored machine, you will clearly see that the latter, with its typewritten, upper and lower case message, is an operator's mod.

It's the style you see most often on first generation Whales allwins, including the Victory Balls, Spitfire, and the white on blue card on the Defiant above.
