Interesting restoration project of 40+ bandits

Post by coppinpr »

I thought this web page might be of interest. This amusement machine supplier has clearly been going a long time as the 40+ bandits they have restored are from the guy's grandfather's time in the business. I've known them for a while now and they seem genuinely interested in old slots (although I'm not too keen on the new colours of some of the machines). :!:

Very interesting, hundreds of hours must have gone into the restorations, not sure how resin moulded parts in a bandit would hold up to stress though.

Ha ha ha, the words “oh dear” come to mind.

To be honest, they are bottom end machines and were in a state, so at least they work and don’t leave a rust trail around the house now. Except the Melon Bell, which deserved a better outcome. Not sure I understand the logic of changing all nuts, bolts and screws. I just clean a bit. There has been a seller on eBay for a long time now selling silicone moulded casting parts. Not something I would use, but probably OK for home display.

As they were their own machines which they had allowed to get into that state, it's good to see they've done work on them.
However! :o

Some seem like good machines. It's mostly just the colours, (the Melon Front is a bit of a disaster all round). I actually don't think they would appeal to home buyers anyway! What is interesting is the box of goodies you can see next to the black 777 machine (photo 7 on the way down) THAT I'd like.

Southern Counties automatics. The second machine I ever bought, in about 1999, originally came from them.
A Sega lite up that I was told had been bought as a birthday present, & never been on site.
