Sega Speedway M2

Anyone who can give me some information about Sega Speedway M2?
How old is it?
Mechanical or electro-mechanical?
I've been offered to buy two machines for 3000 SEK (about £245).

I am not sure what the difference between the M1 and M2 is, but I have owned one which was fully working and had a little box on top with the award feature. They are electro mechanical, although most of the mechanism is mechanical. As with all Windsors, they have a solenoid for coin operation and handle release. Also the bonus feature has electronics.

If complete that seems cheap for two, although I think I sold mine for £160. Seems cheap now.

Yes that is cheap there has been a Sega Derby for sale around £400 for a while now.

I believe these started in mid 1960s. They should have the sticker inside with date and serial number if not removed.

I think the M2 is two plays per coin and the M1 is one play. these have a very high number of payouts, 40 in fact, plus the BONUS payout and the "Mystery" payouts so a great fun machine for home use especially as you get two plays per coin!!. Also, a very versatile machine when refurbing, the M2 also has a much nicer glass than the M1. As mentioned by others £235 for two, in reasonable working order is, in my view, very cheap. If you can restore both to a reasonable condition you could easily sell one and cover the cost for both giving you a home machine for nothing !!

just noticed:- the mech shown in the photo is not the correct mech for those cases, I think that mech is not a B-O-N-U-S mech its a mech that pays the feature as long as the light stays on.

I know what you mean about electrics but these are very simple and do not (I think,) ever use a circuit board only mechanical solenoid switches.

And I also wonder if there's 12V or 220V inside the machine.

I can't remember and could be 220v so don't take any chances, it looks like a simple solenoid set-up if you look at the solenoids they should have on them the voltage they use.
As I said these are really easy and rarely fail, it's just a case of switches firing up the solenoids while they perform their functions and power being supplied to the lights.

Can I play this machine even if the electronics (solenoids) are not working?
I mean - use it as a fully mechanical machine and skip the electronics.

Answer is yes, but from memory you will need to remove the operating arm lock. You will see it on the right hand side at the bottom and the solenoid at the top where the coin acceptor. I have not done myself, so you would need to play as I don’t have a machine in front of me to confirm details.
